We are here with the leaders of the
future live from Panorama City. Good morning! The Valiants of St. Genevieve High school
play for us the national anthem. Today…we celebrate the leaders of the future. Who uses this technology? Well the young
people! Many of the students of this school told me
that this is the first time they’ve ever woken up at 3 a.m. To bring you all out there a
wonderful concert from the marching bands and cheerleaders. I’m here with Bruno Cilloniz,
Band Director. Bruno – tell us about your band. This band is a combined effort between
the schools and it’s very important. My students from the elementary school are here as well
as the students from the high school. Carlos Dominguez is here – Carlos – what makes this
band unique? The students are here not only to play music, but because of their good character.
Their souls and spirits are being nourished as well as their talents. Tiffany is a student
in 7th grade? We go to many events and competitions.We’ve gone to Disneyland and to Ohio. And god willing,
this year we will compete in Reno, Nevada. We continue our tour of the local schools
in our area. Go cheerleaders! Woooooo! What do the Valiants say? 1, 2, 3 VALIANTS! Pure
spirit and trump is found at this school. This school gives out many scholarships and

is the Best!” Why do you like this school so much? And you, Brendan? What will you be
when you grow up? President! And as you can It’s a Kinder through 12th grade school. Technology
is important here, is it not? That’s correct. Technology is important and each students
from Kinder through 12th grade has their own iPad. We use technology daily. We are one
of the first schools in the Los Angeles Archdiocese that was awarded an Apple Distinguished School
award. What else makes this school so unique? The most important thing is that the students
have a continuous education. There are many programs to foster that spirit of leadership.
And if you’re interested, this saturday, the high school has an open house. at 11 am. Ready!
Here the Valiants are giving it all they’ve got. These girls have the spirit and the drive.
How many girls? 17 in Varsity and 16 in JV. Here we are speaking with Astrid. Today you’re
preparing for what? We have playoffs. The game is against Brawley Technic High School.
The wave says? “Wooooooo!” The academic decathlon. These are among the top students at the school.
Preparing for the Academic Decathlon! The students at St. Genevieve High School are
preparing for an academic decathlon, even though it’s months away. There are 17 members
of the team. And we wish to thank the principal and heads of schools – Dan Horn, Vincent O’Donoghue,
and Amanda Allen. Thank you so much for this visit. And now we are going to speak a little
bit about the school’s academic triumphs. David Lopez is the Director of Technology
for the schools. And there are lots of exciting academic things happening, yes? Yes, thanks.
Good morning. We have here at this school a Robotics class. As you can see here, the
students are building their own robots all by themselves. The teachers help, but the
students themselves are designing and building it themselves. These are 21st Century Skills.
IT only took a month to build these robots! Congratulations! Also, Tell me about the iPads?
Each student has one? Each students from grades K – 12th has their own iPad. We have our own
channel and are working on digital textbooks. We are preparing our students to become even
more intelligent and more independent. Another source of pride is the Academic Decathlon.
And here they are in their Logic class. Because they must prepare. And this is my dear Karlie
– what do you use to study? I like using flashcards and studying apps on my iPad. I have many
methods to study. Here at school, to concentrate! Well thank you so much St. Genevieve for allowing us to visit!
