Castorama has 300 000 m2 of logistic wharehousing in France that allow us to serve 104 retail points. This represents no less than 70.000 trucks per year. We ask each one of our carriers and retail stores to note the arrival time of the delivery vehicules when they arrive at the delivery site. The main problem we encountered was that the feedback on our milk runs was not done in real-time. Somes carriers would provide their feedback immediately after the delivery, others by the end of the week or even by the end of the month. In the end we did not have an effective milk run feedback. The data entry of the delivery times and status in our TMS was tedious and time consuming for our carriers. It also lacked objectivity. Castorama was looking for a simple and easy-to-implement solution. But the most important to us was to find a solution that would not be too complex or to constraining for our carriers. After the first discussions with Shippeo, we decided to launch a test of the solution with one of our carrier in the South of France, LOMATRANS, specialized in our deliveries in the PACA region. After the test, we decided to generalized Shippeo to all of our carriers. Today, our carriers are using Shippeo on a daily basis. Thanks to the geofencing functionality the data is available in real time, and it allows us to be more proactive, by informing our stores in advance. Today, transport operators working for our carriers do not need to enter data manually in our portal. We have gone from a manual system to a completely automated system. Thanks to the tracking information obtained by Shippeo, we can better measure and monitor our carrier’s performance, and at the same time, our own logistic performance. One important aspect for Castorama was to use a solution established as a standard, and not used only by Castorama but by all french shippers.
