What’s up guys from Onda Bela!! I’m back… …and today we have a very cool topic here on the channel It is a video lesson that you guys were asking for A video on how to do a 360 Today we are talking about the first part, which is… the reverse 360 [ groovy music ] What’s up Onda Bela crew! How are you doing? Well, for those who don’t know me, this is Isabela Sousa, I am 4 times bodyboard world champion. And this is my channel…..this is OUR CHANNEL!! So come on and subscribe, like or comment I am really enjoying producing these contents for you guys So when you leave your like or comment I understand that you guys are enjoying And that pushes me to do even more cool videos Just take into account that I’m the one that edits the videos, Produces the videos, Writes the scripts, So a lot of times someone asks “heeey, upload more videos!!” I’m still trying to have a steadier publishing routine So when you like, comment or write on the comment section I see that my work is cool and that you guys are appreciating it So that keeps me working on more videos and to do more for the channel Ooooook? Well, I’ve splitted this video in 2 parts Today the first part, which is the Reverse 360. Reminding you that there are 2 types of 360 The Reverse 360 and the Normal 360 The Normal 360 you go with wave’s “normality”, meaning that You will spin towards the face of the wave And the reverse 360 spin, you will spin the other way around, Or the reveeeeerse 360, you will spin the other way around. Reverse, to the other side. So, if you are riding a left wave Normal would be to spin to your left hand But, if you are performing a reverse 360, and you are riding the same left wave, You will spin the other way around, Towards your right hand, So a reverse 360, Is a rotation against the face of the wave. Let’s start with the First tip. Remembering that you are riding left or right o the wave, Yeah, You have to pick a side…. Left or right!! 😀 You can try and perform the 360 facing forward Let’s say a 360 on the foam or a 360 towards the beach, To try and grasp the motion of the move and because it’s also cool I’ve done that a lot I also advise it if you are having trouble performing the maneuver on the face of the wave It could be a good starting point trying to do it facing the beach So the first information we have to be clear on is that you have to pick a direction For this example this is a wave that I am riding left I’ve set that I am riding left on the wave So that is the first information to have in mind The second information, Which almost like a second tip, since the first was an fact that we have to know beforehand The second is an actual tip. And it is that second tip that we wave to keep in mind That is – Use your legs to switch rails I’ve already posted a video here on how to use your legs To control your surf and your bodyboard So if you still haven’t watch it I’ll leave here the link somewhere in the video And, if I can’t do that, I will leave the link down below I’ll try and leave it on both places So get on it, click the video, watch it, Because that information that I’m about to give, It will make much more sense when you watch that video That I’m leaving here in the link below And it’s gonna be way more straightforward [ Intense rain ] Ooooh…It’s rainning…! That noise there in the background is rain So, picking up, if you can, If you know how to control the bodyboard using your fins Know how to use your legs, as we say, to steer in the wave And to have better control of the bodyboard It will be easier for you to perform whatever move Including the move we are teaching here today, The reverse 360 spin. So, remembering that you’ve picked the left direction You dropped the wave to the left side, You will have to switch rails, something you’ll understand from the video link in the description So, you will switch rails. Saying that, if I’m riding on the the left rail To trim down the left side of the wave’s face I will switch rails And thus using the right hand rail of the board Taking into account that we are spinning to the opposite side I will always use the “left wave” example But it works to the right side as well, ok guys? So if I’m going left on the wave, I and using the left side rail. If I want to spin to the right hand side, Which is the side to where I’m gonna go to do the reverse 360 I’m gonna have to use the right hand rail And therefore a rail change will take place You’ll get it in the link on the description, watch the video guys! Seriously, it’s really really important. Watch the video. So, you’ve switched rails ok? Again, going left, using the left hand rail, I’m going to spin to the right Using now the right hand rail. And so comes the THIRD tip. The actual spin movement of the maneuver So I rode left, switched rail, And I’m about to start the spin movement SO, I have to pull the board, Pull the bodyboard towards the chest Or, in other words, I’ll have to slide forward on the board Don’t forget these is a one straight up movement thing, ok? You don’t just to one movement, stop and do the other, stop and do the other. In the spin part of the maneuver you’ll kind of do it all at once But still, trying to put everything in a little step-by-step guide, The first movement you’ll have to do is Here you are, starting to look over your shoulder, right? Starting to look to your right side You pull the board towards your chest, Which is the first little thing of the whole movement, Lift your upper body and your legs, right? And you will look at your legs And that’s where, usually, people find some difficulties This arching of the back and lifting of the legs Where you’ll have to make an “U” of sorts If this movement doesn’t come easy for you, My advice for you is to do a simple warm up at the beach Because then the body will understand that you’ll want to perform that same movement in the water So, the more you practice out of the water, The body it has memory, so when you get in the water, It will know “hmmmm that’s the movement she did there on the beach” And it turns up it’s going to be way easier for you to perform when in the water. It a matter of getting used to it as well. I have a very pronounced arch of the back If you let me, I can touch my butt with my head Iaics, butt in the head. Sounds like a music right?… Butt in the head, err dunno, something like that..!! Well, I almost forgot a super ultra hyper tip It just a matter of logic guys, let’s go. If I’m trimming down the left side of the wave I’ll switch to the other rail And now, I will have to use the right leg Watch video on the use of the legs , it is super important! So, when I’m about to look to my leg on the right side The leg that has to come up first It’s the crossed leg, the left side leg Why? I’m going to tell you why. Taking that left side example, okay? Never forgetting that this goes for the right side as well, but inversed Taking the example of the left direction If you switched rails You will use the right leg, So if you are using the right leg That leg is acting as your fins or rudder It’s that leg that’s holding you If you remove that leg, from the that point on, You will be way too loose on the wave So the leg is working to control the maneuver However, this is not A rule of what you must do This is a tip And it is a thing that will help you, okay? I’ve always done it without thinking much But from the moment you start looking at how the maneuver works, You will realise that it make all the difference That is why I, I guess, this maneuver comes naturally to me I started doing it kind of by instinct, And.. looooots of years of instinct, Lots and lots of years of instinct, I’m sharing this tip here with you So I kind of deserve your like guys, I should get a like on this video Since I’m handing you over this bit by bit information all organised Ah! Another info Wait that I almost forgot! There is the crossed 360 and the uncrossed 360 And it is a question of style, okay? And style we can say is something funny, kind of polemic of sorts I think that style doesn’t necessarily mean crossing your legs I think that style, at least for me, Has more to do with drawing a good and beautiful line on the wave Knowing on how to work those turns, Know how to use the legs If you are in harmony with the wave, So there are styles that they are crossed And styles that they are not crossed Sometimes I don’t cross the leg And I don’t think the move is ugly I still try to use the rails, that I think is the most important, For you to have a style, To be in sync with the wave’s flow. But everytime that I can I’ll try to cross the legs because I think that aesthetically, Visually speaking, I feel the move is, to me, More beautiful And that is not a general rule If you don’t cross it, it’s also cool. What matters guys is having fun. If we feel good about our surf, that’s what really matters, okay? I generally prefer crossing my legs because I feel that visually it’s more beautiful, And aesthetically speaking, in photos and videos, It looks better when the legs are crossed, okay? But this is my opinion. My opinion. So, lastly but not least important, To conclude the maneuver You have to go back on the board – remember that we have slid forward in the beginning So now you will go back a little bit, To the initial stance, And we have to spread your legs, guys Kinda weird, spread your legs, eh? But you will have a better control on the wave Meaning you will slide you little fins backwards So to finish the move there you go You’ll spread your legs and control the move Finish it and go back to the bottom of the wave [ groovy music ] Well guys I hope you have enjoyed the video Leave your like, comment… Remind you that when you like my videos and leave your comments, When you subscribe I get that my work is being appreciated and you guys are enjoying it And that pushes me to keep doing more videos and uploading more Share with your friends because that keeps the channel growing And that I keep posting videos for you guys.
